10 Things I Decluttered This Week

March 14, 2013 by mybookboost

IMG_4036

I’m continually trying to keep the house decluttered. But, honestly, there are times when I find medicine in the closet that expired ten years ago. So, obviously I could be going through things more.

A relatively clutter-free space is such a simple pleasure. And I love the idea of being able to find anything that I need in my house quickly.

Here’s what I sent off to be donated this week:

  • Hat- I love this hat, but it’s just a little too small for my head. I got a new gardening hat a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to donate this one.

  • VHS tapes- I had a bunch of VHS tapes from when I used to be a full-time teacher. I have slowly donated them over the years. Charlotte’s Web was hard to part with, but I’m sure it’s available on DVD somewhere.

  • 4 little books- I had gotten a big set of these little books from Goodwill. I went through them and took out a few to give away(the ones that I didn’t like the storyline as much as the others).

  • 2 small toys (maze and figure)- I try to donate small toys my kids aren’t playing with, especially as we acquire more. Some people might trash them. But, environmentally, I like to donate them. They may get more use. It also creates less demand for more little plastic toys to be produced (hopefully).

  • Orange Shirt that my daughter grew out of

I sent all of this to Goodwill, but I also sell quality kid’s stuff  to my local kid’s consignment shop. It’s a great way to earn a little money for things we don’t need anymore.

Thanks for tuning into this mini-Hoarders episode! I’d love to hear what you were able to part with lately to make your house more clutter-free and peaceful.

Such a good season for cleaning out stuff and lightening the load! We’ve been writing about Spring Cleaning! It’s a great tradition. We really do feel better after we declutter and reorganize things!

I love de-cluttering and getting rid of things…freeing the space to be open or for new things that we love. It always feels good to me.

Doesn’t it feel GREAT to declutter! When my eldest moved back from college he brought his whole apartment with him, lol! Well, not really but he did bring back more stuff than he left with, haha.

I used to declutter my cupboards, drawers and closets twice a year, but I haven’t done that in awhile. Mostly I just declutter as I see something that needs doing, just like you did.

I have a pile of some clothes, a few scarves and some Christmas decorations that need to go to Goodwill. I also need to go through my shoes again and get rid of some. I don’t have a lot of shoes, but I definitely don’t need as many as I have.

I usually have a one in one out rule, and since I bought a “new” pair of shoes from Goodwill I need to get rid of a pair.

      Definitely Nan! Decluttering is therapy.
I love the one in one out rule. But, I should follow it more!

After decluttering, it’s like a whole new place. I really love that feeling. Which reminds me, I should declutter this weekend.

I have a rather large pile of stuff to take to Goodwill. I keep meaning to pack up the car but never get to it. Maybe today, after I get the jogging stroller out of the car.

I love it! I should try to get rid of 10 things a week. I am trying not to bring NEW stuff in, so if I really would get rid of 10 things a week, eventually I’d make a little progress.

I know what you mean, Rachel!!! If I could get rid of 10 things a week I’d make some good progress as well.
